Family Holiday in Marina Smir: What You Need to Know
Most of our guests come as a family, often across several generations. Here is what a week with children actually looks like in our apartment in Complexe Marina Smir, and what we wish we’d known before our first stay.
Guide written by the apartment owner ·
An apartment with room for everyone
Three bedrooms, five beds and three bathrooms: parents keep the master suite, while children or grandparents take the other two bedrooms. The Moroccan lounge is a good spot to retreat to in the afternoon, and the equipped kitchen means you can make the children’s meals without relying on restaurants.
A washing machine and dishwasher make a real difference over a week at the beach. Air conditioning makes naps possible even in August.
The beach without the hassle
A three-minute walk is all it takes to reach the beach: you go with the bare minimum, come back for lunch or to change a child, and head out again. The sea is generally calm on this stretch of coast, which is reassuring with little ones.
- · Beach a three-minute walk away, no car needed
- · Easy to nip back for lunch and naptime
- · Evening stroll along the marina quays
- · Secure residence with on-site parking
Groceries, pharmacy and meals
The complex and the marina have cafés and restaurants for the evenings. For the week’s groceries, M’diq is the nearest town, about ten minutes away by car, with supermarkets, a market and pharmacies. There is also a large supermarket in Tétouan.
Outings that suit children
The marina promenade and the M’diq seafront are popular with children in the late afternoon. Tétouan and its medina are best visited in the morning, with a shaded break. For a change of scene, the beaches of Cabo Negro and Kabila are a few minutes away.
When to come as a family
July and August are the liveliest months, with the marina busy in the evening. June and September offer sea just as pleasant, a quieter beach and more availability. For school holidays, request your dates early.
